LONGBEACH.
The monthly meeting of the Longbeach Road Board was held on Saturday last. Present — Messrs John Grigg, James Bishop, James Croy, J. McQuilkin, and A. Wilson. ELECTIONS. The Returning Officer reported the election of Messrs McQuilkin and Grigg for Noa. 3 and 5 Wards respectively. Mr John Grigg was unanimously reelected chairman. COKRESJPONRENOE. Correspondence was read from Rhodeß' trustees re occupation of roads, and deepening of Boundary Road drain. From Ashburton County Council re small birds nuisance, stating they would pay |d per head for small birds' heads collected m the Longbeach distrbt. — The Board agreed to assist the Council m the new tyatem. From Mr Mclvor re stagnant water oa Winslow Road.— Referred to the Surveyors From Mr Urquhart, requesting to be allowed an extension of time to complete his contract for deepening Boundary RoacJ drain.— The request was granted* From Commissioner of Taxes, re subsidy and manner of striking same, m order to obtain advance on subsidy. From Mr J. W. Body, asking that Woods Road be formed from Graham's Road to Terrace Road. — It was agreed to call for tenders for forming the road as petitioned. WORKS. It was resolved to call for tenders for forming Henley Street and Church Street m Waterton, and call for tenders for clearing Wheatstone drain from cress, rushes, etc., for the protection of the road. BATES. Jt was resolved to advertise that all rates unpaid after a fortnight would be Bued for. ACCOtTNTS. A considerable amount of routine business followed, and after passing accounts amounting to £40 4s 9d, the meeting adjourned.
