A general meeting of the Ashburton Oricfcet Club was held on Thursday evening, Mr Stewart occupied the chair. TIIK SOUTH CANTERBURY ASSOCIAWOK. A discussion took place as to the advisableness or otherwise of coatinuing affiliated with the South Canterbury Cricket Association. Mr Denehi re considered it would be bettor to remain affiliated with that Association, as it was impracticable' to join the North Canterbury Association, and it was an advantage to belong to some Association, as by so doing an. additional incentive WH given to players to improve their form in order to secure a place in representative county matches. Another point; in its favor was chat he had learned that it was more than probable one or more representative matches would be played in the local Domain. On his motion it was decided to reply to the Association that the Club had decided to belong to the Association for the present season, and that this Club under* stands that one match at least, played by the Association against a foreign team, will be played on the Ashburton ground.
