MR JOHN G. RESTELL. Mr John G. Restell, in conjunction with the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co. (per Mr John R. Bland, auctioneer), reports on the live stock market for the week ending, Wednesday, October 12 :—At the Tinwald saleyards on Tuesday, October 11, there was an average entry of stock yarded, but the sale, taken as a whole, could net be called a brisk one, several lines being passed at auction, though cleared privately afterwards. The fat pens contained principally forward merino wethers, which met with a fair sale at 7s 6d to 11s 4d. Two and fourr-tooth crossbred wethurs and maiden ewes that required finishing sold at 14s 6d to 16s. The demand for merino ewes was not so keen as at previous sales; in most ■■fuses they could have been bought at p. ;es about on a par with those ruling six weeks ago. The total entry comprised 4500 sheep, and about 25 head of «ft]bfcle. Cattle—4 steers at £5 5s each, 2 heifers at £6 10s 6d. Daring the week we have sold privately 200 crossbred hoggets at 12s 10d, 156 merino ewes with ,0.5 per cent of lambs at foot at 11s lOd, 90 fat sheep at 17s. BAKAIA MONTHLY SALE. On Thursday, October 6, we held our regular monthly sale at our South Bakaia yards. There was a small entry of stock, Tagfc what was brought forward realised prices equal to those attained at the Afihburton ,co#nfcy yards.
