Me S. G. Staveley (for New Z island Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited) reports on Tinwald sale on 28th. September:—About 1500 aheap and average entries pigs and cattle to hand. Fair demand for young sheep continues. Fair fat sheep penned, Fat msr n) wethe sroa 'a 10i. good crossbred hoggets 9i 6 1, medium do 6s 9i, 7s, 7s lOd and rta 41 : 2, 4 aud 6- ooth crossbred wethers Os Gi ; ;«ged mixed ewes, with fair percentage lambs, 5j Id ; 4, 6 and 8-tooth merino wethers in forward condition, 6s 7d tofii lOd. Values nigs and cattle unchanged Fat cows £5 7s 6d to £9 10s according to quality. Messrs Macpheraon, S impson, and Co. report on the T nwald live stock sale, Tuesday, 28th September.—The genial spring weather we have had during the past fortnight is beginning to take effect on fanners and dealers, and stock of all descriptions are changing hands at decidedly improved values. Although the day was beautifully fine, the supply and variety of class in sheep were but moderately represented. The bidding throughout was tolerably bri-k, and most of the lines found now owners. Cro sbred hoggets we:o the only class that was fairly represented, and they ” oved off at satisfactory figu*es The following are Hie prices realised for the lines cleared : Merino wethers, 6s Bd, Gs lOd, 10s ; crossbred wetlvrs, 9s Gd ; crossbred hoggets, 6s 9d, 7s, 7s Bd, 7s lOd, 8s 4d, 9s 6d ; cross'red ewes, with 90 percent, lambs, 5s Id. The supply of cattle was behind tho average, and with the exception of one or two, those offered were indifferent in proportions aud quality. Fat cattle aud stores wore in good demand, and went off quickly at an advance on former sales. Cows (fat), £5 7s 6d, £sl2s 6d, £9 10s ; springing, £4 2s 6d, £4 ss, £5 2s Gd ; £6 los ; in full profit, £5 ; two-year old h, ifera, £2 4) to £3 lls ; yearling steers, 335, 395, 43s ; vealers, Bs. There were a few pigs entered, which went off at a slight advance on the usual nominal figures—--7s fid to 27s fid.
