2340 MEALS

A.N.A. Club’s, Work For Men Of Forces

Two thousand three hundred and forty hot meals and teas, were served to the men of the fighting services who visited the A.N.A. Club. Wellington, last week. Though a large attendance was not anticipated, the cafeteria was kept very busy. Great assistance in providing the . men with meals was given by a generous hamper from the women’s branch of the Dannevirke Patriotic Society, per Mrs. A. Smith, and a large carton of jams and pickles from the Marton A.N.A. helpers, per Mrs. E. B. Gordon.

Those who assisted in the preparation of meals were members of Mrs. P. Fraser’s party, .Victoria League, Naval League, and A.N.A. helpers and girls’ auxiliary. Thanks are extended to the local firms who send contributions to the club’s larder.

The weekend dances are very popular —a tally taken shows that approximately 3000 attended last month. Visitors this weekend included several members of the girls’ committee of the Welcome Club, Christchurch.

Friends of the club are reminded of the bridge and mall jong party to be held next Thursday evening in the ballroom. Those wishing to attend- please ring 46-767. Members of the comforts committee in charge, of the bridge and Mrs. F. E. Herbert and . Mrs. Godfrey Wilson,,and math jong, Mrs. R. E. Burton and Mrs. C. Quane. The party is being held to provide extra comforts for the men attending the club.
