Awards To New Zealanders

Advice was received by Air Headquarters yesterday that three more New Zealanders serving with the Royal Air Force have been awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross. They are : — Pilot Officer Allan Bridson,’ Auckland.

Wing Commander Samuel Charles Elworthy, A.F.C.

Pilot Officer Peter Bettley Robinson, Auckland.

■ Pilot Officer Bridson was born in Auckland and is 22 years of age. He was educated at Seddon Memorial Technical College, Auckland, and took a prominent part in motor-cycle racing and trials. He was selected for a short-service commission in 1939, and underwent partial training at the Auckland Aero Club before v entering the Royal New Zealand Air Force at Wigfam a few days after the outbreak of war. He proceeded to England early in 1940, and since then has been serving with the Royal Air Force. His father is Mr. Thomas A. Bridson, Silverdale, Auckland.

Wing Commander Elworthy was awarded the Air Force Cross in the New. Year Honours announced on January 2. 1941.

Pilot Officer Robinson is 20. years of ago and was educated at Seddon Memorial Technical College. He was selected for a short-service commission in 1939 and entered the R.N.Z.A.F. station at Wigram a few days after the outbreak of war. He left New Zealand to commence service with the Royal Air Force early in 1940. His mother is Mrs. J. N. Arnold, 99 St. Stephen's Avenue, Parnell, Auckland.
