Ko nga tamariki wahine e titiro ana kite Paipera Ka whakatata mai te mea tane, katahi ka ui, “ He aha ta korua e korero na ?” Ka whakahokia atu e te mea pakeke o nga tamariki wahine, “ E korero ana maua ite Paipera ; he aha to ui ?” Te katanga ote tamaiti tane, “Ha!hal ha ! i mua iau e tamariki-ana i korero au ite Paipera, i whakapono hoki ahau ki ana korero, otira inaianei, kua pakeke nei au, kua tae hoki kite kareti, kua mutu rawa atu taku whakapono ki nga korero ote Paipera; e mohio ana au kahore kau he Atua ;ko nga korero mo te Atua he maminga noaiho na te tangata.” Kahore rawa nga kotiro ra i wehi mai i te matau o tenei tangata kareti, mea atu ana ano te mea pakeke, “ E ki, ite nui o to matauranga, e mea ana koe kahore kau he Atua; kaati mau ma te tangata mohio ki nga mea katoa e whakaatu mai kia maua kuare nei, ‘Ko te hea i puta mai i te tuatahi ote heihei raua ko te heeki, ko te heki ranei ?” Hohoro tonu te whakahoki mai a taua tamaiti taane, “ Koiana noa ta korua patai, ma te tamaiti kai-u e whakautu tena patai hauwarea. ano ia tetahi manu i te ao nei kahore baa i paopao mai i roto ite heeki.” “ Aue ! he pohehe ncku, ko te heeki no te tuatahi i puta mai ai !” “ Kaati ra eki ana koe tera ano ia tetahi heeki i te ao nei kahore kau i whanaui mai i roto ite manu.’ Ite hanenga o te tamaiti whakahihi nei, i te kotiro, ka whakapeka tona korero, ka mea “ Katahi ano te wairangi o a korua patai ; he tangata whakatipu pikaokao an kia mohio an kite ahua o tenei mea ote manu, a kia ui mai hoki korua ki au i ena patai ?” Ite ka o te ngakau o te kotiro ra i tona rongonga e taunutia ana te Ingoa o te Atua e te tangata whakahi, ka wiri tona reo, a rahi ana tana karanga, “E ta, nau iki he tangata mohio koe, i tae koe ki te kareti, na reira ka ina atu e au tenei patai kia koe.
