Missing Friends.

Information is requested respecting Joseph Woodley, a seaman or miner, from 30 to 35 years of age, 6 feet high, hazel eyes, dark brown curly hair, stands very erect, large scar round scalp beginning from top of forehead under hair, resided at Francis street, Burdett Road, Limehouse, London, before coming to the Colony; served for 10 years in Her Majesty’s Naval Reserve, and was last heard of from Dunedin in September, 1868, since which time no trace of him can be found by his family. It is supposed that Woodley was killed in a fight on one of the diggings in this Colony, as an account of a man answering his description having been so killed was, it is supposed, seen in a Colonial newspaper by his family in England.

Information is requested respecting William Pearce, or William Meluish Pearce, a miner, about 60 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, well built, dark complexion, black hair turning grey, dark full piercing eyes, slightly stooped shoulders, resided at Camborne, Cornwall, before coming to the Colony ; arrived in Otago by the ship Chile in December, 1865, and was heard of from Dunedin in 1870, at which time he was engaged mining with his nephews, John and James Thomas, and a man named Richard Wilton or Wellington, all Cornishmen, but it is thought he may have left them to follow fanning pursuits.

Inquiries having been made respecting a person named John Cleminson, formerly of Manchester, England, and who was last heard of in Nelson about 5 years ago, when he was employed in fencing for the Government, any one who can give any information respecting him is requested to communicate with this office.
