RABBITSKIN MARKET.
Messbs Abthur McDonald and Co. report under date 2nd inst :— Consignments still continue to reach us in large quantities, and considering the time of year it fully bears out our previous remarks that the supply this season is much greater than the two preceding years. We would again impress upon holders the desirability of taking advantage of the present high prices ruling here, for with tha enormous quantities going forward on to the London market they will in all probability (as intimated us by cable) cause values to give way. Although the local market is not so strong this week we art Btill paying prices quoted in our last, which are full net cash, without commission charges. Mebsbs. Bobebt Cleland and Co., Crawford street, Dunedin (next Pier Hotel) report as follows :—: — There has been a decided fall in prices this week, more marked, perhaps, in inferior qualities than in prime skins, but Btill affecting all classes more or less. As we said last week this waß bound to happen because prices have been, and indeed still are, out of proportion to London, which means nothing but loss to the shipper. We have Btill an order on hand at late rates which we wish to execute quickly, and, therefore, in the meantime, we continue to pay for all parcels consigned to us the prices quoted by us two weeks ago.
