DUNEDIN HORSE SALEYARDS.
Mebbbs. Wbight, Stephenson and Co. report as follows : — An unusually small entry of horses was received for to-day's sale, but ai the attendance of buyers was even better than that of the previous week a very large portion of the horses changed bands. As has been the case for some weeks past, intending purchasers had to leave the yards without having their wants supplied. There were inquiries for extra heavy draught geldings, strong active spring van horses, active farm horses, and upstanding hacks and harness horses. As showing the strong demand there is for all classes of horses we may mention that of the 40 horses offered to-day only 12 failed to find purchasers. We quote :— First-class draughts (extra heavy), £25 to £30 ; good ordinary draughts (young), £18 to £22 ; medium draughts, £12 to £16 ; aged draughts, £6 to -610 ; good hacks and harness horses, £12 to £16 ; medium hacks and harness horses, £7 to £9 ; light and inferior hacks and harness horses, £2 10s to £5.
