PROPERTY STOLEN.

, Queen’s Street Wharf (Auckland). llth November last, from a coat in the forecastle of the ship “ Mahia,” the property of HARRY FREDERICK BOWERS, trimmer, a gentlemen’s gold signet ring (recovered); a gentlemen’s gold or gold-plated oblong wristlet watch, luminous Arabic numerals, “ELB 1936 ” on back case ; a New Zealand half-crown ; and some cigarettes: total value, £4. Watch identifiable. Suspicion is attached to David Cregg and Charles Schclman, two firemen who left this Dominion on the ship “ Mahia ” on the 13th November last. They were interviewed, but no evidence resulted. The recovered ring was found on Cregg’s bunk. ,

Auckland.— 2nd November last, the property of JAMES ISAAC PRENTICE, a gold tie-pin, set with a diamond in claw setting, 2 in. corkscrew pattern shaft; value, £25. Identifiable. Suspicion is attached to a Woman (name unknown), age about thirty-three, height about 5 ft. 5 in., thin build, dark complexion, • hair, and eyes wearing a dark dress and small dark hat;Jewish appearence. Complainant and the woman referred to were drinking together in the Metropolitan Hotel, and she had an opportunity to steal the tie-pin.

Auckland. sth November last, from Wakefield Street, the property of MAURICE IRVING WALTERS, 44 Walmer Road, Point Chevalier, a light-fawn (known as Chinese gold) coloured, 1937 model Chevrolet sedan motor-car, engine No. R. 94697, chassis No. X.H.G.B. 56199, registration No. 186,755, disc wheels, large dent in rear right mudguard, driver’s door will not lock, Dominion Cord tires on all wheels ; value. £2lO. Takapuna. —Between February and October last, from the dwelling of HESTER OLIVE MOFFATT, 19 Sanders Avenue, two small silver golf cups, “T. O. Walker” on them ; a square silver flower-embossed biscuit-container ; a silver oval entree-dish ; a case of six silver teaspoons, handles in shape of golf club; a silver brooch in form of ship’s wheel, s.s. “Ruahine” on it; a silver teaspoon, s.s. “ Ruahine ” on it; three large silver knives and three small silver knives, “ Griffiths Bros., Sydney ” on blades ; and four small silver fruit-knives, “ Walker and Hall ” on them; total value, £lO 10s. Identifiable.

Papakura. —lßth or 19th November last, from a room in the Papakura Hotel, the property of WILLIAM JAMES BURNETT, a gentlemen’s silver hunting Waltham lever watch, Roman numerals, “ W. Burnett and McDonald ” scratched on inside back case; and a 9 ct. gold watchchain with small links of anchor type, split link soldered where chain is attached to watch, watch-key and an 1816 shilling on end of chain ; total value, £l7. Identifiable. /

Wellington.— On the 16th November last, the countinghouse of BILLIARDS LTD., 22a Emmett Street, was broken into and the following stolen : £1 3s. 3d. in money ; a Remington typewriter ; a white drill dust coat; a bevel and a coping saw, both branded “ W. D. Scott a £ in. chisel; • and a 3 ft. rule (both have “L ” cut in handles); and a large number of other carpenters’ tools ; total value, £22. Portion identifiable.

Wellington.— 3oth October last, from a room at 125 Lambton Quay, the property of RICHARD WALTER CASSIDY, 10 Marion Street, a gentlemen’s light - grey single-breasted overcoat of heavy herringbone pattern material, half lined with brown silk material, “ R. W. Cassidy ” on lining; value, £7 10s. Identifiable.

Wellington. 27th October last, from the Donbank Private Hotel, Percival Street, the property of FLORENCE MAY MOORE, a ladies’ 8 ct. gold ring, set with five diamonds in platinum setting, three middle diamonds raised above the outer two which arc slightly smaller than - the others ; value, £35. Identifiable. And a ladies’ gold oval wristlet watch, front rim chased, “ F. Moore ” scratched on back, narrow rolled-gold expanding wristlet; value, £lO. Identifiable.

Christchurch. l9th August last, from a motor-car, the property of IRIS KENDALL, care of Lever Bros., Wellington, a flank musquash fur coat, swagger style, Peter Pan collar, slit pockets, wide shoulders, fur button at neck, hook at waist, lined with brocaded pattern fawn silk, skins perpendicular, fit woman 5 ft. 4£ in., made by Bourne and Hollingworths, London; value, £45; a double-breasted two-piece dark-blue Worcester tweed costume, two skirts to match, fawn silk lining, made by Woods and Sons, South Shields, England a navy marocain afternoon frock, tucker from shoulder to middle of front, six buttons and loops at back of neck and four on each cuff; a brown crepe de Chine; afternoon frock, V-shaped and slightly gathered in front, cross-over style; a ladies’ heavy dark-grey dressing gown of blanket material with blue fleck; two sets of silk pyjamas, one pair blue and white stripes, and the other pair yellow and white stripes ; a quantity of artificial silk underclothing, chiefly green and lemon colours; a dark-blue full-length evening dress, long sleeves, skirt and coatee silk and top of dress lace; six pairs of silk stockings ; some handkerchiefs; a pair of brown suede evening shoes, size SJ, moccasin make, high heels, brown metal buckle on front, purchased from Lewis, London; a pair of navy-blue Bostock kid shoes, Court style, purchased from Hannah’s, Christchurch; a triple string of Ciro pearls, about 15 in. long, oval brilliant clasp; a small marquisite brooch in form of bird ; a darkbrown leather suit-case, 27 in. by 16 in.; a dark-brown leather suit-case, 24 in. by 14 in; and keys for a Ford 10 motor-car total value, 10. Identifiable. Complainant’s motor-car was unlawfully removed from Cathedral Square and later the same day it was recovered in Hereford Street, but the property described above had been stolen.
