Auckland. 22nd ultimo, from clothing in the pavilion at Victoria Park, the property of LEONARD ELLERY VIVIAN, 25 Woodford Road, Mount Eden, a gentlemen’s silver Omega wristlet-watch, “L. E. Vivian ” on back, luminous hands and numerals, discoloured unbreakable glass, repair No. D. 952 on inside back case; value, £5 ss. Identifiable.

Auckland.— 22nd ultimo, the property of HECTOR DEAN, 493 New North Road, a gentlemen’s gold hunting Waltham watch, No. 831177, “ ten years guarantee ” stamped on inside back, black Roman numerals, “ A.E.D.” engraved on front case; value, £ls. Identifiable. While complainant was in the public bar of the Hobson Hotel he placed his coat containing the watch on the bar counter, and about thirty minutes later he discovered that the watch had been stolen.

Palmerston North. Between the 3rd and 7th ultimo, from a motor-car, the property of ALEXANDER MILLER, Dominion Farmers’ Institute, Wellington, a Rollieflex camera, No. 309451, Ziess Tessar lens, No. 1394814, “ Franke and Heideckc, Brunschweig ” make, covered with black Morocco leather and bound with dual metal fastenings, bright metal handle on side, takes twelve exposures on 120 film, contained in a small khaki military haversack with tripod and three filters; a sunshade; a Duto softfocus lens ; and an autex release Helios photo-electric meter : total value, £4l. Identifiable.

Palmerston North. —19th September last, the property of HENRY OTHO BARBER, Rangiotu, a riding saddle with new padding,, stirrups, and stirrup-leathers; and a leather bridle of McMillan’s hide which lias the appearance of greenhide : total value, £7 2s. 6d. Identifiable. Suspicion is attached to Leslie George Pycroft, alias William Pycroft, age thirty, height 5 ft. 7 in., ploughman, native of New Zealand, good build, tanned complexion, brown hair; walks with a limp; dressed in a brown overcoat and green hat. He was employed by complainant, but left his employment on the 19th September last, after which it was discovered that the saddle and bridle were missing from the whare which he had used. Masterton. —On the sth or 6th instant, the store of PAIN AND KERSHAW, The Square, Martinborough, was broken into and the following stolen: A gentlemen’s rolledgold square open-face Elgin wristlet-watch, Geneva lever, No. 9591763, jeweller’s No. 15327 K., black Arabic numerals, silver-coloured dial with two small dents in it, leather strap attached; value, £5. Identifiable. Joseph Coyle, alias Lyons, referred to in Police Gazette, 1938, page 644, was in the Wairarapa District about the time, and he may have committed the offence.

Wellington. Between the Ist July and 15th August last, the dwelling of MARIE PERRETT, 16 Plunket Street, was broken into and the following stolen : A brass firescreen about 24 in. by 18 in., supported on two small legs, unknown design on it; a shoe-attache from an American wardrobe, made of light wood and covered with small-patterned material; a black leather cabin trunk, about 36 in. by 15 in. by 15 in., brown leather facing around edge, containing a large quantity of English and European operatic programmes ; a round composition hat-box about 18 in. in diameter, purchased in Paris ; a wireless speaker about 24 in. by 6 in. by 6 in., fancy scroll front with mesh behind it; two sets of French pink crepe de Chine lingerie, consisting of nightgown, vest, and cami-nicks; about thirty-five Italian, French, Indian, and Chinese silver coins ; a Myrtle cigarette-tin containing about two hundred foreign stamps; a black silk handbag lined with beige-coloured material; a red leather handbag, about 10 in. by 4 in. ; three volumes of books, entitled “ My Yesterdays,” by Lord Eredric Hamilton, red fabric bindings, creamcoloured paper ; four packs of playing-cards of fancy design ; and two packs of linen playing-cards, one pink and the other blue : total value, £ll 16s. Wellington.— On the 10th ultimo, the dwelling of JAMES TYRIE BINNY, 49 Ralliser Road, Roseneath, was broken into and the following stolen : A brass Buddha square jewelcase with raised lid which is the shape of a Chinese house; a light silver-coloured jewel-case about 8 in. by 5 in., sailing ship engraved on lid; a ladies’ 9 ct. gold 15-jewel round wristlet-watch, case No. 210573, red and black Roman numerals, expanding bracelet about \ in. wide attached; an 18 ct. gold engagement ring, originally set with a large diamond in centre of two smaller diamonds in straight claw setting, but one end diamond is now missing; a 9 ct. gold round pendant about size of a florin, two raised gold bars in form of cross on it, set with a green stone in centre and a ruby set in each pointer, small pearls set around outer circle of pendant, twisted link chain with clip fastener attached; a 9 ct. gold pin-shaped brooch about ljin. long, gold ivy leaf on front with “ Blantyre ”on it; an old 9 ct. gold oval brooch, set with a ruby in centre and a ruby or pearl on each side of ruby ; a gentlemen’s silver round -wristlet-watch, Arabic luminous numerals, chromium-plated expanding wristlet attached; a gentlemen’s 9 ct. gold hexagon-shaped signet ring. “ J.T.8.” on it: a bronze oblong post office

Lyttelton. lst September last, from the seamen’s quarters on the ship “ Rangitira,” the property of ALFRED SNOWDEN, a five-valve Philco radio-set, mantel model with oval top, brown veneered cabinet; a reducer shaped like a Brownie camera; and a condenser or filter; value, £l3 19s. 6d. Not identifiable. Suspicion is attached to Bill Clemens or Clements, alias “ Storky ” Clemens, age about twenty-one, height 5 ft. 11 in., thin build, fresh complexion, dark-brown long hair, round face; dressed in a dark double-breasted suit with stripes (no hat); erect gait. Ashburton. —On the 25th ultimo, the shop of HERBERT EVERARD MONEY, music and cycle dealer, Burnett Street, was broken into and the following stolen: A set of Scottish bagpipes with Royal Stuart tartan cover and tassels, nickel and imitation ivory finish, “ Robertson, Edinburgh ” stamped on wood; and a Honer piano-accordian, model “ Verdi 2, ” finished in black pearloid, with white and chrome facings, white bellows with black binding, thirty-four treble keys, eighty bass keys, size 15| in. by 7-J-in., “Honer” in chrome letters on treble side, and “ Verdi 2 ” in chrome letters on bass side, 6630 K.G. stamped on it: total value, £42. Identifiable.

Ashburton. On the 25th ultimo, the shop of the UNITED FRIENDLY SOCIETY, East Street, was broken into and the following stolen: a six-16 Kodak Junior camera with 6-3 lens, No. 20907 ; a six-20 Kodak Junior camera with 6-3 lens, No. 87831 a, chromium finish; an Agfa camera, No. 532267, 3 B. 65, Speedex 4-sjens, Compur shutter speeded from one second to one two hundred and fiftieth of a second ; value, £lB 2s. 6d. Identifiable.

Dunedin. Between the 7th and 10th September last, the property of MAURICE RAYMOND SKIPWORTH, 139 Eglinton Road, Mornington, a gentlemen’s gold wristletwatch with round luminous dial, “ Hafis Jar Proof ” make, Arabic numerals, “ M. R. Skipworth ” and a date engraved on back of case, black leather strap with metal buckle; value, £5. Identifiable. It is not known whether the watch was lost, or was stolen from complainant’s dwelling.
