Whangarei. — On the night of 15th instant the dwelling of GRACE PEARCE, storekeeper at Waikiekie, was broken into, and the following stolen therefrom : Four £1 notes ; a gold crescent brooch, set with pearls ; a gold crescent-and-dagger brooch, set with emeralds and pearls ; twelve packets of Player’s cigarettes; a pair of gentlemen’s tan shoes, size 8 ; a light-tweed cap, with “ Zealandia ” on yellow-satin lining ; two pairs of grey socks, with “ English Wool ” in red on each ; a grey woollen singlet; and a quantity of chocolates and chewing-gum : total value, £l6 7s. Queen Street Wharf (Auckland). —3rd instant, from a cubicle at the Tepid Baths, the property of WILFRED CHARLES DAVIES, 28 Grafton Road, a brown- or blackleather flap purse, containing a 10s. note, about 10s. in silver, and a gentlemen’s gold shield ring, with “ W.C.D.” on shield and “ From mother, 1922,” on inside ; total value, £3 10s. Identifiable.

Queen Street Wharf (Auckland).— l2th instant, from the person of HAROLD WALTER PARKER, 10 Yarborough Street, while on a drinking-bout, a 15 ct. gold long-beaded fetter-and-three-oval double watch-chain, with “ W.S.Y.” stamped on centre link, with a half-sovereign in lifebuoy pendant (with “ Elingamite,. Three Kings, -1908,” on one side and “Claymore Expedition H. Parker” on the other side) and a gold sovereign-case attached; total value, £ll ss. Identifiable.

Auckland.— l9th ultimo, from Elliott Street, the property of DOUGLAS SMITH, traveller, a motor-car (recovered) ; and two black fibre boxes, containing samples of ladies’ silk jumpers, frocks, and coats ; total value, about £SO. Identification doubtful.

Identifiable.

Auckland. jewellery-shop at 234 Queen Street, a ladies’ 18 ct. gold half-hoop ring, set with three rubies and two diamonds, No. 179 scratched on inside ; value, £l4. Identifiable. Suspicion is attached to a Woman (name unknown), age about thirty, height about 5 ft. 5 in., stout build, fair hair and complexion; dressed in a brown-cloth overcoat with bands around skirt. She was accompanied by a girl about five years.

Auckland. —9th instant, the property of LILIAN ALICE LAWN, Robertson Road, Avondale, a ladies’ gold open-face keyless expanding wristlet Swiss watch, black numerals except “ 12,” which is red, with “ Lilian 17/4/18 ” on outside of back case ; value, £5. Identifiable.

Auckland. —lsth instant, from JEAN CARTER’S office at the Mansions Private Hotel, a clock with a square glass in a brownish case, about 6 in. by 4 in. ; value, £2 10s. Identifiable.

Auckland. — l7th instant, from a tram-car, the property of HENRY GEORGE HEALE, 25 Symonds Street, a browncanvas suit-case, containing a quantity of pattern-traced linen goods, including doilies, cosy-covers, and table-centres of various sizes, all branded “ Melba, pure linen ” ; total value, £3O. Identification doubtful.

Auckland. 2nd instant, from a counter in J. J. Craig’s stables, the property of RONALD GILLARD, painter, 58 Paices Avenue, a gentlemen’s nickel-silver wristlet watch, white dial, black hands, with “ S. Parkes ” scratched on back of case; value, £2 10s. Identifiable. ■ h_.

Auckland. —15th instant, from a suit-case in EARL McGREGOR’S bedroom at 11 Hardinge Street, a brownleather Y.M.C.A. purse, containing two £1 notes, a three-penny-piece, two pennies, a soldier’s discharge in complainant’s name, a returned soldier’s badge, an hospital bill for £9 125., and a gold ring, set with a ruby and garnet in claw setting ; total value, £5. Identifiable except money. Suspicion is attached to Richard Walsh, age about thirty-eight, height 5 ft. 10 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, medium build, fresh complexion, dark-brown hair, blue-grey eyes, cleanshaved ; dressed in a blue suit, gabardine overcoat, and grey-felt hat. He was in possession of a leather-bound straw hamper.

Auckland. —On or about the 4th ultimo, from MISS URSULA MOONEY’S dwelling at 44 Eden Crescent, a ladies’ brown-leather Sunshine puree, with “ U.M.” on outside and kiwis and a boat in raised leather of flap, containing 10s. in silver, several letters, and photographs ; and a cameo ring in the form of a woman, set in pale green : total value, £7. Identifiable except money.

Ellerslie. —On the 15th March last the dwelling of ELIZABETH FREEMAN in Amy Street was broken into, and an 18 ct. gold engagement-ring, set with a diamond and two rubies in square setting, value £lO, identifiable, stolen therefrom.

Papakura. —26th December last, from clothing at the Weymouth Beach, the property of WILLIAM BARKER, farmer, Ramarama, an 18 ct. gold curb watch-chain, with a silver match-box with “ W. 8.” on it attached ; total value, £ls. Identifiable.

Hamilton.— l2th instant, from a motor-bicycle in Victoria Street, the property of ARTHUR SHARPE, bricklayer, Claudelands, a ladies’ blue double-breasted blanket overcoat, with large black buttons, red stain on collar; and a gentlemen’s khaki-tweed overcoat with slit pockets, grease-stains on left cuffs and on back ; total value, £ll. Identifiable.

Hamilton. —18th instant, from a passage-way at Everybody’s Buildings, the property of TERENCE R. GUMMING, a gentlemen’s black-enamelled Criterion bicycle, No. 64983, upturned handles, Eadie Coaster hub ; value, £l2. Identifiable.

Hamilton. —l2th instant, from a motor-bicycle behind Vickery’s cycle-shop, the property of JAMES DAWSON, plumber, Lake Crescent, a pair of khaki motor-overall trousers, one instep-strap broken ; value, £l. Identifiable.

Matamata. —On the night of the 12th instant the railwaystation office was broken into and £2 10s. in notes stolen therefrom. Not identifiable.

Hawera. —On the sth ultimo, from WILFRED DAVISON’S bedroom at the Railway Boardinghouse, a black-imitation-leather suit-case with black squares painted on top, containing five soft shirts with “ W.D.” on each, two pairs of underpants, two dozen handkerchiefs, two soft collars, three pairs of socks, two pairs of brown-kid gloves ; and a brown suit-case, with “ W.D.” in black on one side, handles repaired with wire, containing a Government Life Insurance policy, a quantity of photographs and letters, a photographic lamp, a union book, and a navy-blue suit (sizes 4, with “ W.D.” on inside of breast-pockets) : total value, £2O. Identifiable.

Palmerston North. —22nd ultimo, from a motor-car in Pascal Street, the property of KENNETH McDONALD, land agent, a gentlemen’s fawn-gabardine overcoat, burn-hole in front, tear between shoulders ; and a woollen large rug, fawn on one side and -fawn check on the other side : total:value, £ll. Identifiable.

• Wellington.— 23rd instant, from the Willeston Parkingstand, the property of FREDERICK WILLIAM RICHARDS, agent, Empire Hotel, a maroon single-seater motor-car, Star-engine, No. 3041, registered No. A 346, H. & C. in red, with white background, number-plate front and back, four electric headlights, red light missing from taillight, Dodge radiator-cap, copper star on radiator disc wheels, Silvertown cord, tires, black mud-guards and hood, spare wheel with Dunlop Magnum tire fastened to back with V-shaped straps; value, £4OO. Between the 25th and the 27th March last, the property of WILLIAM GREEN, Soldiers’ Hostel, a silver hunting-watch, with “ A.G.” on back of case, A. Green” on inside of front case, and “ Littlejohn & Son ” on dial; value, £6. Identifiable. Suspicion is attached to Ernest Edward Needham, age forty-two, height 5 ft. 6 in., labourer, native of England, strong build, dark complexion, brown hair and eyes, scar on chin. Suspect borrowed the watch from complainant while engaged as night porter at the Soldiers’ Hostel and failed to return it. Dunollie. —On or about the 28th February last, from a hut at the Point Elizabeth Railway Works, the properly of the NEW ZEALAND GOVERNMENT (Public Works Department), Greymouth, an engineer’s No. 2 parallel vice, made by Joseph Hampden Steel Nuts and Vice Company, 5 in. jaws, broad-arrow on square ; value, £3 15s. Identifiable.

Waikaia. —Between the 13th March and the 13th ultimo the dwelling of JOHN THOMPSON at Upper Waikaia was broken into, and the following stolen therefrom : Several dinner and tea plates, teacups, milk-jugs, hot-water jugs, a teapot, an E.P. lid, four white linen sheets, two unbleached daisy-pattern tablecloths, and two lace embroidered nightgowns ; total value, £lO 19s. 3d.
