Wellington. — Robert Carmichael, contractor, reports stolen from an engine on Customhouse Quay, on the 14th or 15th ultimo, a steam-gauge, “ Bourbon ” on dial ; value £1 7s. 6d. Identification doubtful.

Patea. —H. E. P. Adams, solicitor, reports stolen from off his horse in McCarthy and Hunger’s smithy, on the 25th ultimo, a pair of stirrup-leathers with three-bar nickel irons; value 13s. 6d. Identifiable.

' Cambridge. —Thomas Medliurst, Tamahere, reports stolen from off bis horse in Cambridge, during the night of the 7th ultimo, a colonial stock-saddle, liogskin seat, large knee- and thigh-pads, one stirrup leather spliced, galvanised three-bar irons ; an English bridle (single), square plated buckles, A 1 on head-piece, rusty steel bit with flat bars ; a breast-plate and martingale with plated horse-shoe buckles; value £4 15s. Identification doubtful.

Auckland. —Ernest Peel, Narrow Neck, Devonport, reports stolen, on the 23rd ultimo, a flat-bottomed punt, 12ft. or 13ft. long, tarred inside and out, three seats; a boat-anchor, half of the stock broken off short; and 20ft. of iron chain; value £3. Identifiable. Taken by two men in a mullet-boat, who sailed in the direction of the Thames Passage.

Danevirke.— The Waipawa County Council report stolen from the Oringi Bridge, near Danevirke, about the 25th May last, a Union screwjack, makers Boyle and Simons, Napier Foundry; four iron wedges, a drum of assorted bolts, an iron pile-ring, a frying-pan, and tin can ; value £7. Identifiable except bolts.

Offender gave the name of Robert Smith, but is identical with Robert Carr, alias Middleton, alias John Harris. Christchurch. —Mrs. Clara Hawkins, Yaldhurst, reports stolen off ahorse, on the 25th or 26th ultimo, a canvas horsecover, with new surcingle, recently lined with red drugget, branded 84; value 10s.

Christchurch. —Peter John, hawker, reports stolen from a box in his wagon, between the 16th ultimo and 3rd instant, a gold-mounted greenstone brooch, streak through centre, triangular shape, scrolled edges; a pair of goldmounted greenstone earrings, same shape ; and a blackhandled razor, “ Bengal ”on blade ; value £4 3s. 6d. Identifiable. Suspicion attached to Nicholas Othalo, an Egyptian hawker, about twenty-eight years of age, sft. 6in. or 7in. high, stout built, sallow complexion, brown hair, small brown moustache ; dressed in black trousers and vest, greytweed coat, and tweed cap ; carries a portmanteau. Suspect left on foot for Dunedin about a fortnight ago, and when in the latter city is said to live in a house belonging to George Wilson, Walker Street.

Christchurch. —James Henderson, Papanui Road, reports stolen from a clothes-line, on the sth instant, a grey woollen singlet, a pair of blue-and-wliite-striped fiannellette drawers and jacket, six pairs of black stockings, marked S.H. on pieces of tape; two or three pairs of socks, marked J.H.; a white night-dress, marked “ Henderson ; ” a blue petticoat, and two blue dress-shirts ; value £2.
