Extract from Victoria Police Gazette.
(From Gazette, 1891, pages 138, 169, and 167.) Stolen from John W. Lindsay, at Foster, about the 7th October last, a gold hunting English lever watch, engraved case, No. 16225, and a gold albert, wire-twisted pattern, with a small gold locket attached; value £25. Complainant’s address is care of Isaac Michael, pawnbroker, Elizabeth Street, Melbourne. (0/3633, sth May, 1891.) James Murray is charged, on warrant, with stealing a watch, chain, and locket, value £25, from John W. Lindsay, at Foster, Gippsland, on the 7th October last. Description: Native of New Zealand, twenty-six years of age, sft. Sin. high, stout build, square shoulders, very dark swarthy complexion, dark coarse hair, dark moustache and sideboards, chin shaved ; about 13 stone weight; generally wears dark clothes and black soft felt-hat. Said liis father and mother lived about two miles out of Christchurch, New Zealand, and he may have gone there. (0/3633, 29tli May, 1891.)
Inquiry is requested for the address of Miss Sarah Walker, formerly employed in an hotel at Auckland. Information to be sent to the Chief Commissioner of Police, Melbourne. (0/4350, 29th May, 1891.
