Horse- and Cattle-Stealing.

William H. Cameron, charged on warrant with the larceny as a bailee of a horse, at Johnsonville, the property of David Braid, was arrested by Constable Franklin, Mahakipawa Police, on the 27th December last, remanded to Masterton, and discharged.

The horse, the property of Philip Cullen, reported stolen from Gumtown, Mercury Bay, has been recovered; not stolen.

Stolen on the 4th or sth instant, from a paddock at Dairy Flat, Wade, Auckland, a dark-brown gelding, about seven years old, about fifteen hands high, short back, falls away very much on rump, black mane and tail, star on forehead, off hind fetlock white, unshod ; the property of Edward Askul; value £7 10s. Identifiable.

Stolen between the 19th December last and the 4th ultimo, from a paddock at Kaitangata, thirteen cross-bred sheep, chiefly ewes and six-tooth, in wool, branded like a spur in red hematite on back, may have two bits out of front part of off ear; the property of Allan Blaekie; value 13s. each. Identifiable. Mr. Blaekie guarantees a reward of £2O for such information as will lead to the conviction of the offender or offenders.

Supposed stolen on the 14th or 15th instant, from a paddock, at Taradale, a gray mare, hack-breed, five years old, 14f hands high, hollow back, branded like a bullock’s head on one shoulder (supposed the near shoulder), one fore shoe off ; the property of Richard Hollis ; value £7. Identifiable.

Moneith, alias Duncan C. Monteith, alias H. M. Brandon, charged on warrant with the larceny as a bailee of a mare, saddle, and bridle, at Masterton, the property of William Neill, was arrested on the Btli ultimo by Constable Arthur Reddell, Gisborne Police, for obtaining money by means of valueless cheques, and sentenced to eight months’ labour in Napier Gaol.
