Henry Frederick Metz is charged on warrant with stealing the property described hereafter from Charles Johnston, 134, Gertrude Street, Fitzroy, on the 25tli ultimo. Description : An English Jew, twenty-eight years of age, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, slender, dark complexion, dark moustache and “ side-boards,” large nose, dresses well; appearance of a sporting man. May have gone to Sydney, as he is said to have a brother in the telegraph office there. Offender obtained the following on time-payment, and sold them at Beauchamp’s auction-rooms, Collins Street, Melbourne: Six liair-clotli chairs, moulded backs; a Vienna rockingchair, a cedar table, 6by 4 feet, on castors; two carpet fold-ing-chairs, a bronze fender, 10 yards linoleum, 2 yards wide; a table-cover, 8£ yards linoleum, 1 yard wide; four small door-mats. All the goods, except the table-cover, bear the number 6416 and C. J.—o. 6778, 17th November, 1884.

Henry Metz, larceny from Charles Johnston: Some of the furniture was sold on the 4th instant, and on the sth instant offender received an advance-note for £25 on the portion unsold. Offender was seen in Melbourne on the 10th instant. It is said he served a term of imprisonment for forgery in New Zealand, where he has a brother. —O. 6678, 22nd November, 1844.
