Robert Owen is charged, on warrant issued by the Timaru Bench, with deserting his wife and three children at Timaru since the 10th instant. Description : English, a labourer and sailor, twenty-eight years of age, about 5 feet 7 inches high, medium build, sallow complexion, dark hair beard whiskers and moustache; dressed in pepper-and-salt-coloured coat and vest, white moleskin trousers, and old white soft-felt hat; fond of drink. It is believed that he will endeavour to ship as a seamen, with the intention of leaving the colony.

Stephen Hutchison is charged, on warrant issued by the Dunedin Bench, with deserting his wife at Dunedin since about the Btli instant. Description: English, a gas-engineer, fifty-five years of age, 5 feet 6£ inches high, stout build, very florid complexion, brown hair, clean-shaved except small brown moustache; usually wears black-cloth coat, white vest, and white tall hat. It is supposed he will endeavour to leave the colony for England.

George Howard is charged, on warrant issued by the Helensvillc Bench, with threatening to stab John Graham with a gum-spear at South Head, Kaipara, on the 27tli of October last. Isaac Armstrong is charged, on warrant of commitment to gaol for two months’ labour, issued by the Ashburton Bench, in default of paying £lO fine, and £1 6s. 6d. costs, for illegally trespassing in pursuit of game. Description: English, a blacksmith, thirty-one years of age, 5 feet 5J inches high, fair complexion, light-brown hair and eyes broad nose, and largo mouth. He was sentenced at Rakaia on the 9th February last to two months’ labour for unlawfully wounding. See Police Gazette, 1883, page 74. He may have gone to Kumara.

James Stewart is charged, on warrant issued by the Dunedin Bench, with deserting his wife, at Shag Valley, near Palmerston South, since the sth ultimo. Description: A native of Ireland, a labourer, about thirty-two years of age, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, stout build, fair complexion and hair, full fair beard and moustache. He left the employment of a Mr. Munroe, at Inch Valley, on the sth ultimo, saying that he was going to the Christchurch Cattle-show.

Harry, alias Henry, Lloyd is charged, on warrant issued by the. Invercargill Bench, with having on the 11th instant, at Waikiwi, near Invercargill, assaulted William Brookland. Description : A native of Tasmania, a labourer and bushman, twenty-two years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, medium build, fresh complexion, light-brown hair, grey eyes, clean-shaved except small fair moustache, bum marks on forehead and left temple, large lump on back of right wrist. See Police Gazette, 1883, page 115. He was summoned for the offence, but he did not appear. He loft Waikiwi on the 19th instant, supposed for Tasmania or Tapanui.
