MANAWATU RACING CLUB.
The meeting of the Manawatu Racing Club, notwithstanding the strong counter attractions of the Auckland meeting and the clashing of others nearer, is well fed from the Hawke’s Bay, Wairarapa, Wellington, Wanganui and intermediate districts with horses and patrons, and the meeting supplies large crowds with entertainment. There is going to be the
usually strong muster of horses from all parts, and there should be ample to see the three days through, and the class is probably quite up to the standard; indeed, it is evident that there are plenty of useful herses engaged at the North Island fixtures all round. The Manawatu Cup, of 700sovs., is the chief race, and remains, as hitherto, at a mile and a-half, while the Palmerston North Stakes, of 500sovs., usually draws gcod horses into competition, and should this year produce another spirited contest.
