WOODLANDS HUNT CLUB’S STEEPLECHASE MEETING.
The annual steeplechase meeting of the Woodlands Hunt Club was held on Wednesday on the Pahiatua racecourse. The weather was fine and there was a good attendance. Twelve bookmakers were licensed at a fee of £7 each. The following are the results:— MAIDEN FLAT RACE. —Seaweed, 1; Beach, 2; Himitangi 3. Also started. Handy Jack, Wild Rose, Calluna, Harata, Lady Scott, Waimoumou, Duchess. Won easily. Time, Imin 13 4-ssec. HUNTERS’ HURDLE RACE.—Gargoyle 1, Royal Maid 2, Watershed 3. Also started: Kai Erin, Tabarmoney, Pathfinder. Won by three lengths. Time, 3 min 29sec. A protest against the winner for having run at an unregistered meeting was upheld and Royal Maid was placed first and Watershed second. WOODLANDS HUNT STEEPLECHASE. —Miss Hippo 1, Flamingo 2, Garrison 3. Also started: Vivace, Hinipou, Maurer, Bullet, Henere. Won comfortably. Time, smin 32sec. MEMBERS’ FLAT RACE.—Don Carlos 1, Farranite 2, Rapids 3. Also started: Lord Ullin, Pukerua, Sensation, Lady J. Lord Ullin fell close to the finish. Time, 2min 7 4-ssec.
HACK FLAT HANDICAP.—Seaweed 1, Miss Sylvia 2. Beach 3. Also started: Lord Irwell, Kakanui, Passive, Lord Irwell fell and broke his back. Time, I min 29sec. KUMEROA STEEPLECHASE.—Commodore 1, Corroboree 2, Flamingo 3. Also started: Lord Ullin, Pebble, Hepere, Whaffor, Enchantress. Won easily by several lengths. Time, smin 7sec. HUNTERS’ FLAT HANDlCAP.—Himitangi 1, Royal Maid 2, Tobarmoney 3. Also started. Flint Gun, Vivace, Garrison, Pathfinder, Pukerua, Watershed, Porera. Won by a length. Time, 3min 11 4-ssec.
