FIRST DAY. The New Zealand Metropolitan Trotting Club s August Meeting commenced on ■Saturday on the Canterbury Park track, which was in good order. Won by two lengths Time, 3mm 55 2-ssec. LADIES’ BRACELET HANDICAP, one mile and a-half.—Ariel, 2sec, 1; Lyonnaise, Ssec, 2; Wallace Junior, 2sec, 3. Twenty-six others started. Won by 12 lengths. Time, 4min 1 2-ssec. , AUGUST HANDICAP, one mile and ahalf.—Marie Narelle, 12sec, 1; Albert H., Usee, 2; Mandarene, Isec, 3. Seventeen others started. Won by three lengths. Time, 3min 35 l-ssec.
