The Gluten—Gold Web colt Doughboy, who is now running in the pony ranks in Australia, ran third in the Maiden Handicap at Victoria Park recently.
Pretty Polly’s younger brother, Admiral Hawke, won the Triennial Stakes at the Ascot meeting. He has fine speed, but lacks stamina, and is evidently not in the same class as his distinguished relative.
Mr. lan Duncan, proprietor of the Waikanae Stud Farm, has purchased an additional 50 acres of land at Waikanae in front of the farm and near the racecourse. The new property consists of beautiful rich flat paddocks that will grow anything at all. Several brood mares have also been purchased for Waikanae, viz., Kitchenmaid (Soult —-Lady Cuisine), in foal to Achilles; Monardo (Birkenhead — Balm), half-sister to Flamen in foal to Bezonian; Satisfair (Birkenhead — Content); and Miss Birkenhead (Birkenhead—Mount Ida). The last two were bought in Sydney. Satisfair is a half-sister to the dam of the Great Northern Derby winner Kilwinning. In Queensland Satisfair proved herself a good performer.
