THE DUKE AND DUCHESS OF CORNWALL AND YORK.
At the time of writing the Duke and Duchess of Cornwall and York have reached Quebec on their return voyage. It was only the dread of putting too much temptation before the Anarchists that prevented the Duke from attending President McKinley's funeral. It is hard, indeed, that a terrorism should exist sufficiently powerful lo prevent such a fitting mark of respect from England to America as this would prove from being undertaken. It is a relic of barbarism which rings discordantly in civilized lands. Extraordinary precautions are being taken to ensure the safety of the Royal Party in Canada. As much anxiety will bj felt in England after the recent disastrous event as would have been the case if His Highness were engaged in the fierce struggles with the Boers amongst the kopjes of South Africa. His sale arrival at Home will be hailed with unspeakable relief, and all the more acclamation from the knowledge that he has run the gauntlet of the unseen dangers which assail Royalty even during their pleasure trips through a country with which relations are the most cordial.
