STRATFORD.
November 10. Amateur Theatricals. Our amateur theatricals leave been "on tour” with “Our Regiment” since last recording their performances in Stratford. Last Tuesday, at Eltham, and on Thursday at Hawera. they performed to good houses, and enthusiastic audiences. At Eltham the company was entertained at a sumptuous little supper, provide I by admiring friends. At Hawera the smart little play went with unflagging vivacity, and the performers gained for themselves quite an enviable reputation. Outside Games. The fine weather which November hrs produced must be accepted an augury of better things to come, drawing good attendances at the various tennis ami bowling clubs opening this month. Mrs. Bridge gave tea at the Stratford Tenuis I Tub on Thursday, when nrjny members were present, and good matches were played. St. Andrews Tennis Club was also opened on the same day. The official opening of the Bowling Chib on Thursday drew a very large gathering of members and their friends. Mr. N. J. King, president, in a happy little speech, opened the day’s proceedings, whereupon Mrs. King threw tho first “jack.” A delicious afternoon tea was provided by the ladies and enjoyed by all present. Mr. O. M. Curtis’ challenge cup was presented to Mr. Smart, the last year's winner. Bridge Club. Mrs. Wake entertained the members of the Bridge Club on Friday evening, included were Mesdames Vniacke, Grant. Stubbs. Budge. Richards, Robinson, and Miss N. Jeunes. Personal. Mr. F. W. Wake has gone for a short 'visit to Auckland. Airs. Morant Bayly is spending a hoiday in Wanganui. .Mrs. Munro Wilson is visiting frierd-s in Wanganui. Mr. W. D. Anderson left by steamer on Monday for Auckland. ,
