November 16. Children’s Party. Last Thursday afternoon Mrs. Leslie Nolan gave a delightful children’s fancy dress party, there being quite sixty children present. Some of the fancy dresses were exquisite. A sumptuous tea was provided. Afternoon. Tea. .At a farewell to Miss Laura Brown, whose wedding is to take place shortly, Mrs. Standish gave a very enjoyable afternoon tea, but at the last moment was unable to be present on account of influenza, so her daughter, Mrs. Walter Bayly, acted as hostess. Miss C. Douglas w on the competition of composing a congratulatory telegram out of the word "congratulations.” After tea was served a putting competition was held on the lawn, which resulted in Miss Brewster winning first honours. Amongst those present were: Mrs. W. Bayly, cinnamon brown linen costume, brown chip hat with dark red roses; Miss Brown, pretty pale pink flowered muslin, black hat, trimmed with steel bands, and black
cliiffon rosettes; Miss S. Matthais, dovegrey silk, cream lace collar, pretty blaek hat with pink roses circling crown; Mi.-s D. Whiteombe, white muslin, blaek and white hat; Mi»\ S. Thomson, slate-grey costume, grey hat lined with vieux rose silk; Miss E. Brown, bottle-green costume, cream sill: hat with red roses; Miss Webster, cream costume, black and wliite that; Miss K. Leatham, French grey voile, pretty hat en suite; Miss Blundell, dark grey striped tweed coat anil skirt, black hat with
emerald green ospreys; Miss Simpson, white costume, cream hat_ with blaek bow; Miss Ashdown, navy coat and skirt, black hat with saxe-blue feather; Miss F. rose pink, blaek hat wreathed with pal* pink roses; Miss Bedford, pale grey ninon, black hat. with feathers; Miss Bewley, pretty pale blue crepe, grey tagcl toque; Miss Glasgow, dark navy coat and skirt, black and white hat; Miss Mac Diarmid, navy costume, black hat; Miss K. MeAllum, pale blue crepe, black and white hat; Miss Tayler, blue striped tweed, braided with nattier blue rucked silk, saxe-blue hat massed with Marguerite daisies; Miss Arden, white muslin, blaek hat; Miss Cottrell, pale grey and white striped costume, cream and black hat with pale pink ospreys; Miss G. Shaw, light grey tweed coat and skirt, cream and saxe blue hat; Miss Wade, saxe blue Shantung silk, cream silk vest, black hat; Mrs. 11. Russell, pale blue voile, black feathered hat. Personal. Miss Cottrell, Wellington, is the guestof Miss Munro, New Plymouth. Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Fraser have returned from their honeymoon trip, which was spent in Christchurch ami Wellington. Miss Matthews is the guest of Mrs. W. Skinner, Blenheim, and will act as bridesmaid to Miss Lucy Skinner, whose wedding is to take place on December 5.

Miss Olive Baker, having passed her final examination connected with nursing. Jims’ left the nursing staff of the New [Plymouth Hospital, and after spending a d. w weeks with relatives in Palmerston, rhe intends finally settling in Auckland riiith her sisters and brothers. Mrs. Leslie Webster, New Plymouth, baa gone for a trip to Nelson.
