August 17. The Flower Queen. This pretty operetta was repeated on Tuesday evening with a slight alteration. iMiss Urquhart, of Blenheim, sang three of her dc>er\<•<!!y popular Scotch songs, and received an ovation from the audience. Misses B. B. Stewart and F. Chambers rendered a pianoforte duet in f Style which delighted the audience. an<t Mr Valentino also gave some extra songs, '['he Picton orchestra played th© opening overture. Those taking part in the performance have every reason to feel proud of their efforts. Church Social. Another of (he popular church socials Was held in the Sunday-school on Wednesday under the supervision of Mesdames Seymour, l.ucena. and Miss Harris. Heavy rain kept many away. Personal. “Mr Walsh, of the School of Art. Christchurch. is spending some weeks sketching in the Marlborough Sounds. Air A. P. Seymour and Miss Seymour have left to visit Russell and W’hangarei. Mr and Mrs Riddell have gone to Wellington. They aUo purpose visiting Te ’Aroha and Wanganui, and getting in pome golf. Miss 11. Harris has returned from a visit to Wellington. Mr and Mrs Henry Harris, of Port Segar, and Miss Philpotts, Picton. have returned from a trip to Christchurch, find other Southern ♦owns. Miss Hutcheson. Wellington, has boon visiting friends in the district. Mrs Smith and Mrs Hallett invited a few’ friends to meet Mis> Hutcheson on Monday. Among them were Dr. A. and Mrs Paterson. Mrs Beauchamp, and "Mrs frrapp. Miss Goodall. Kaikoura. is visiting Airs Haslett in Picton Mis s Gregg. Maliakipawa. i< spending a few days with Dr. and Mrs Trine.
