Augu-t 17. Children’s Party. Dr. and Mrs Meade entertained a few children and their mothers at a most enjoyable tea on Thursday in honour uf their son's (Garthorne) birthday. Mrs Meade reci'ived her guests weiring a handsome lace blouse and black silk voile skirt; Miss Doreen Meade, pretty white frock with blue sash. The hall was prettily decorated with ( hinese lanterns and Howers. In the drawingroom was a “birthday tree," which was tastefully decorated, and lit up with voloure I lights. Each child received gifts from the ti’ee. A dainty tea wa< arranged in the diningroom, tin* table being decorate I with violets and white camellias. 'Those present were: Mrs ('. On Alonday evening Dr. an I Mrs Bennett entertained a number of friends at a most enjoyable. progressive euchre party at the Lolonia Rooms. The tables were arranged in three rooms, and playing was k(‘pt going merrily until 11 pan. First lady’s prize was won by Miss Smith, and gentleman’s by Mr Broughton. xV beautiful supper was laid out in an adjoining room, the tables being tastefully decorated with red japonha and spring flowers. During supper, Perry’s band played a few delightful selections. Airs Bennett received her guests wearing a pretty cream satin, with overdress of cream lace relieved with emerald green; Airs Paul (New Plymouth), black satin, with handsome Oriental trimmings on bodice and relieved with pale blue.
