GISBORNE.
August 12. Kinking. Gisborne has been very quiet this week, though skating is still the rage. On Saturday, August 6th, a race was held during the evening at the rink, and only those who had started this season were allowed to compete. A great number entered. A trophy, in the form of a bracelet, was presented bv Dr. Collins. The judges for the race were:—Messrs. Geo. Grant, Laehariah, 11. Tucker. The winner of the 'bracelet was Mrs R. Barker, following her in second and third places were Miss Smith and Mrs C. F. Scott. It was difficult to judge amongst so many graceful and clever skaters. Personal. Air L. Goldsmith left on Sunday last for England, on account of his health. Mr Geoffrey Alaclean has been spending a few days in Napier. Mrs and Miss Bright left for South on Wednesday. Air Hine, from London, is staying at the Gisborne Hotel. Mr fjlarke, manager of the South British Insurance Company, is visiting
