ROTORUA.

August 12. At Home. A very pleasant “At Home” was given in Te Ruananga on Tuesday afternoon by Mrs W. R. Blow, to meet her mother-in-law, Mrs 11. J. 11. Blow, of Wellington. A well-arranged guessing competition kept all engrossed in excitement for some time. Amongst those present I noticed: Mesdames Empson, Malfroy, Hill, Hicks, Lundon, Crowther, Urquhart, Braithwaite, Gardner, Crowhurst, F. Lundon, Walker, Kusabs, Bent, McLeod, and Misses Malfroy, Smith, Pownall, Lundon, Potts. The tea-room was bright and comfortable, and decorated with flowers. Personal. Mr J. B. Purcell, of the local Post and Telegraph Office, has been transferred to Palmerston North, his place being filled by Mr Twidle, of the Palmerston office. Miss Burgoyne has resigned her position as teacher at the Mangatuna School, and was presented with a silver teapot when leaving. Mr E. Rawnsley, of Christchurch, is staying at Grand Vue. Mrs F. E. Baume and Mrs Sydney Nathan, of Auckland, are staying at Waiwera House. Mi- Hampson, of Rhodes and Hampson, left for Wellington by Saturday’s express. Mr Fastier, of Stratford, is staying at the “Australia.” Mrs Singer and family, of Auckland, are staying at Lake House Hotel. Mr and Mrs A. H. Wallis, of Gisborne, are staying at Bathgate House. Mr P. Durham, of Kaikoura, is staying at Grand Vue. Mr and Miss Manton, of Sydney, and Mr Upton, of Wellington, are staying at Bathgate House. Mr E. E. Vaile, of Waiotapu, has returned to his home from Auckland.
