August 11. A Dance, A very enjoyable dance was given by the Misses Chitty on Tuesday last in Mr. Aubrey Chitty’s house, to which a new addition has just been added. Masses of camellias prettily decorated the rooms, the floor was excellent, and a v-ry jolly evening was spent. Miss (hilly received her guests in black evening dress with touches of amethyst; Miss K. Chitty, pretty’ pale blue silk voile relieved with black; Miss Muriel Ciiitty, white muslin. Among the guests were:- Mrs. Vero Chitty*, pretty black silk; Miss N. Metcalfe, lovely green silk draped with gold embroidered black net; Miss Cusson, soft cream satin with sequin trimming; Miss —. I'us-cu, cream embroidered not; Miss -—. Cusson, pale blue ■voile; Miss 1 Mize, white muslin, red poppies in hair; "Miss McAllmn, black silk; .Miss Clara Holloway, red silk; Miss Primrose, v, kite muslin; Ali-,s Daphne Primrose, white silk; Miss Hay, black velvet; Matron Swinburne, biscuit coloured voile, touches of deeper shade; Miss Pickering, white; Miss I. Lorie, white silk; Mie C. Lorie, cream; Miss MeNicol, black with floral sash; Miss Lambert, deep cream satin eharmeuso; Miss Sarnies, pure white chiffon taffeta frock. Among Hie gentlemen were:— 'Me--rs. V. A. oughly enjoyed by the audience. Mr. Fox, as Captain Brassbound, made a good study of the part. Mr. Northeroft avas a good Sir Howard Hallam (the English High Court Judge); Drinkwater, a Cockney, and one of Captain Brassbound’e followers, was capitally pourtrayed by Mr. Gaze; Miss Lambert made a very good heroine (Lady Cicely Waynflete); while Messrs. Ransted, Sward, Luxford, Pountney, and MeDiarmid, all gave good interpretation of their parts.
