July 29. Bridge and Rinking Party. Mrs. N. Gorton and Mrs. L. Gorton gave a most enjoyable bridge and rinking party iu the Drill Hall on Monday last for Mrs. Mostyn-Jones, who is leaving Feilding and going to live in Palmerston North. The stage was prettily arranged as a drawing-room for playing bridge and onlookers. A few among those I noticed: Mr. and Mrs. N. Gorton, Mr. and Mrs. Mostyn-Jones, Mr. and Mrs. Roberts, Mr. and Miss Shannon, Mr., Mrs. and Miss Wheeler, Mr. and Mr. Gillespie, Mr. and Mrs. Leithbridge, Dr. and Mrs. Willis, Dr. and Miss Livesay, Rev. and Mrs. Innes-Jones, Mr. and Mrs. Clayton, Mr. and Mrs. Horrocks, Mr. and Mrs. Barton, Mr. and Mrs. Ed. Goodbehere, Mr. and Mrs. Banks, Mr. and Mrs. Montgomerie. A Dance.
A very enjoyable little subscription dance took place in the Oddfellows’ Hall on Tuesday last. The supper-table was daintily decorated wit'h yellow bulbs and violets. Among a few of those I noticed, Mrs. Roberts, wearing a pretty frock of spangled net over white satin; Mrs. Wheeler, blaek lace over blaek satin; Mrs. Mostyn-Jones, pretty frock of oyster satin, with silver trimming; Mrs. Geison, black velvet frock, with white lace fichu; Mrs. Millar, black lace over black satin; Mrs. Francis, green silk muslin dress trimmed with a darker shade of velvet; Mrs. Walker, Princess gown of purple velvet; Mrs. Holt, pretty white satin frock with silver trimming; Miss Prior, green silk frock; Miss J. Bruce, white satin with overdress of spangled net, with silver butterfly in hair; Miss Wyatt, pretty dress of white charmeuse satin, with pearl trimming, and pink in hair; Miss Mills, cream satin with silver trimming, pink roses in hair; Miss Walpole, white silk frock embroidered with blue, and blue in hair; Miss B. Innes-Jones, frock of white silk taffeta, silver in hair; Miss Walker, frock of pink satin draped with pink chiffon, gold in hair; Miss Kirton, Empire frock of blue, with silver trimming; Miss Collins (Palmerston North), white silk with overdress of net and silver, with red in hair; Miss Furgusson (Christchurch), white frock with net covering and pearl trimming; Miss Livesay, green muslin with lace trimming; also Misses Haybittie (3), Mrs. Glasgow, Mrs. S. Johnston, Mrs. Campbell, Misses Levien (2), Miss Mountford, Messrs. Barton (2), Logie, Caiman, Roberts, Glasgow, Lewis, Jacob, Grim wade, Goodbehere, Wheeler (2), Chamberlain, Smith (2), Bachlor (Palmerston North), Lakeman, Dr. Livesay. Concert. Herr Berger’s Orchestral Society gave a most successful concert in the Drill Hall on Thursday last. Among the audience I noticed: Mr. and Mrs. Levebt, Mr. and Mrs. Richmond, Mr. and Mrs. Clayton, Mrs. Atkinson, Miss Innes-Jones, Mrs. Carr, Mr. and Mrs. Revington Jones, Dr. and Mrs. Willis, Mrs. Sandilands, Mr. and Mia. Twigg, Mrs. Mackay, Mrs. and Mr. Barton, Mrs. Montgomrie, Mrs. and Miss Walker, Mrs. Berger, Miss Prior, Miss J. Bruce. Personal. Miss Furgusson (Christchurch) is the guest of Mrs. Gillespie. Mrs. Leithbridge has returned from her visit to Auckland. Mr. and Mrs. Levett (Kiwitea) have returned from Auckland. Mrs. Montgomrie, who has been on a long visit to Gore, returned last week. Mrs. Woollams has returned from Wel-
lington.
