March 3. Garden Party. A garden party was given at the racecourse to-day in honour of his Excellency Lord Plunket, who paid a farewell visit to Hastings for a few hours. After-noon-tea was served in the luncheon rooms on the racecourse. The tables

Personal, The friends of Sir Wm. Russel will be sorry to hear that he is slightly indisposed. Mrs. Fergusson has gone to Dannevirke.

Miss Hodge is leaving this week for England. Mrs. and Misses Bain (Canterbury) are visiting Hawke’s Bay. Miss Hewson is the guest’ of Mrs. Beamish, Stoneycroft.
