March 3. •Bridge. Mrs. Halladay gave a particularly nice little bridge afternoon on Friday, February 25. Mrs. Woodward was the guest of the occasion. Mrs. Sid. Fitzhejbert won the prize. Mrs. Halliday received her guests in a black skirt and white silk iblouse; Mrs. Woodward, black and white muslin, large white hat with black feathens; Mrs. McAlhim, violet linen coat and skirt, hat to match; Mrs. Willis, grey coat and Skirt, green hat; Mrs. Montgomerie, navy blue Shantung; Mrs. Clayton, pretty grey frock, black hat; Mrs. Stewart, white Indian -muslin hat with pink roses; Mrs. Porter, heliotrope muslin, floral toque; Mrs. Glasgow, pale blue coat and skirt, blaek and blue hat; Mrs. A. Fitzherbert, black and white frock, cornflower blue hat; Mrs. Waldegrave, green dress, black hat with brown roses. Garden Party. Mrs. A. Fitzherbert gave a garden party on Saturday, February 26, as a farewell to Mrs. Sid. Fitzherbert, who is going home to England. Notwithstanding the wet afternoon, the party was a groat success. Mrs. Stewart won first prize, and Mrs. Atkinson second for the “observation table.” Mrs. Fitzherbert (New Plymouth), and Mrs. Glasgow ■were successful in finding “the hidden treasure.” The garden was bright with

beautiful asters and looked lovely. Mrs, Fitzherbert received her guests in « pretty white frock; Mrs. Halliday wore a very pretty pale blue Empire gown, trimmed with black velvet ribbon and pink and green passementerie, black hat ■with feathers; Mrs. Mongomerie, navy blue Shantung; Mrs. Goodbehue, ereani dress, cream hat; Mrs. Carr, black and white coat and skirt; Mrs. Long, black silk taffeta, cream lace yoke, black hat; Miss Long, pale blue linen, brown hat; Mts. Horrocks, heliotrope coat and skirt.
