March 4. Our Cricketers. Quite a mild excitement prevailed at the wharf on Sunday evening last, the occasion being the departure of the Poverty Bay cricket team for Napier, to Poverty Bay cricket team for Napier, to meet the Hawke’s Bay and Hastings teams. The Poverty Bay team was captained by Mr. Arthur Rees, Mr. L. T. Symes acting as manager. Glorious weather prevailed during the local team’s visit, which was a victorious one, Poverty Bay beating Hastings on the Monday and Hawke’s Bay on the Tuesday. The Gisborne men were treated quite royally, very excellent lunch and dinner being provided for them in Hastings, and a similar attention in Napier on Tuesday, whilst motor drives were the order of the day. including one to Frimley ami its exxeellent orchards, the latter visit being particularly appreciated. The team returned on Thursday morning. Personal. Mr. J. K. Kirk returned from the Couth on Saturday last. Miss Wallis returned on Wednesday from a visit to Auckland. Mrs. J. W. Williams returned from the South on Wednesday night. Miss Williams ( Christchurch), who has been visiting her brother and friends in the country, returned South on Wednesday. Mrs. Sydney Williamson returned from the South on Saturday. Mrs. Max Jackson left on Thurcday morning for Auckland.

Mrs. Symes, accompanied by Miss Symes, left on Thursday for Auckland

and Rotorua.
