ROTORUA.

Marell 3. Bowling Tournament. During the week of the bowling tournament, the Sanatorium Gardens Were very {Jay, and business at our pretty tea kiosk extremely brisk. We had about 120 bowlers “and their sisters and their eousins and their aunts, and wives” here, and there was a tennis and croquet tournament at the same time, so that the crowd in the gardens at all times was “pretty considerable,” to use. an expressive phrase. The tennis tournainent proceeded as far as the semi-finals, then the combined doubles lapsed, a» some of the players were leaving before the finish. Miss Myra Reid (Auckland) and L. C. Ryan forfeited to Miss H. .Hickson and J. Purcell, and the latter pair cannot play off the finals against Mrs. Aldridge and Williamson, ae Purcell has gone away on leave. The rest of the finals have yet to be played. In the croquet tournament, after a wellcontested match, Mrs. Walker beat Mrs. Briffault (Auckland). There are likely to be open tournaments at Easter.

Fress Conference. East week the Press Conference was held here, and the town wore a learned and literary aspect, instead of its usual sporting appearance. The Races.
