December 31. Races. The Christmas Meeting of the Taranaki Jockey Club, which eventuated last week, was successful from every point of view. The weather was beautifully fine, so the dainty frocks of the ladies were seen to the best advantage. Amongst those present were:—Mrs. Bennett (Blenheim), a lovely pale heliotrope eolienne over glace en Princesse, cream tucked net and sleeves, dainty black feathered hat: Mrs. Heard, pale blue and white spotted muslin profusely tucked, brown chip hat swathed with shaded roses; Mrs. W. Nolan, white muslin, violet hat and ceiufure; Mrs. Paget (Stratford). lovely cream lace robe over glace, charming vieux rose hat trimmed with large shaded ros.es; Mrs. Harrison (Eltham).. white embroidered muslin, black feathered hat; Mrs. C. Wright, black costume, cream lace yoke and berthe, Tuscan hat with red and pink roses. Second Day. Mrs. Paul, grey flowered silk muslin, violet toque; Mrs. Paget (Stratford), moss green coat and skirt, lace vest, vieux rose hat; Mrs. Harrison (Eltham), very handsome black cloth tailor-made . coat and skirt, cream silk vest, black hat; Miss N. Hanna, white muslin, pretty golden brown, hat. swathed with silk and finished with drill; Miss O. Mackay, pretty striped linen coat and skirt faced with black, green hat: Mrs. Smith, dainty white muslin, lovely- black feathered hat; Mrs. Ab. Goldwater, blaek silk; Miss Goldwater, while linen coat and skirt, hat trimmed with shaded pink .roses’; Miss Bedford, • heliotrope striped linen coat and skirt, violet hat: Mrs. Walker, tussore coat and - skirt faced with black," lovely blaek feathered hat; Mrs. C. New Plymouth, is on a visit to her many friends in Palmerston. - ■ ■ Miss Carte, New Plymouth, is on a visit to her home at Eastbourne, Wellington. Mrs. l.ewis, Gisborne, is visiting 'her daughter, Mrs. G. T. Murray. New Plymouth. Mr. W. C. Kensington and the Misses Kensington. Wellington, have b-en on a short visit to New Plymouth, but have now returned. Dr. and Mrs. Bennett. Blenheim, are the guests of Mrs. Paid (the latter's mother). New Plymouth. Mr. and Mrs. Quilliarn, New Plymouth, are on a visit to Auckland. Mi.-s 1). Bedford, New Plymouth, is the guest of Mrs. Brownlow, Horrocks, Parnell. Miss Q. Glonn, llawera, has been on a most enjoyable trip to Auckland, but has now returned. Mrs. F. J. Stewart and the Misses Stewart (2), who have been on a two years' visit to the Ohl Country, returned io New Plymouth last week.
