Hawera, August 1». Bridge Party. Mr and Mrs G. McLean entertained some of their friends at a most enjoyable bridge party last Friday evening. The hostess wore a black brocade gown, trimmed with white lace; Miss McLean, scarlet taffeta, trimmed with satin of the same shade, and touches of cream silk laee; Miss Laisley (Wellington), red silk corsage, trimmed with cream net and lace; Mrs Caplen, black silk; Mrs Barton, prune coloured taffeta, with silk lace trimmings; Mrs Webster, black satin; Mrs Gillies, black taffeta; Mrs Foyster, cream silk; Mrs A. Good, black taffeta, corsage trimmed with beautiful cream lace; Mrs Coutts, silver grey eolienne, with touches of black velvet; Mrs Dunn, cream voile, lace blouse; Mrs Raine, senr. (Wellington), black silk; Mrs Raine, brown eolienne; Mrs Nolan, black taffeta; Mrs T. Atkinson, white floral silk; Mrs Nicholas, blaek satin; Mrs F. Livingston, black taffeta, with cream net on corsage; Mrs Brown, heliotrope mousseline de soie. Golf.

The weather this week has been more than kind for the Hawera Golf Championship, which is being played for at present. The championship trophy, a handsome rose bowl, has been won two years in succession by Miss Coutts, and if this lady should prove successful again this year the bowl will become her own property. Personal. Miss Laisley (Wellington) is the guest of Mrs G. McLean. Mr G. Maingay has returned from his trip to Australia. Mrs Baine (Wellington) is staying with her son and daughter-in-law, Mr and Mrs C. N. Raine. Mr F. Taylor (Napier) is on a visit to friends in Hawera. Mrs McDiarmid has returned from the Empire City. Mrs A. Good is spending a couple of weeks in Wanganui.
