Rees ("The Bungalow”) gave a small tennis and croquet party on Friday afternoon, which was much enjoyed by those present. They included Mesdames Nolan. Chatterton, Parker, A. Nolan, Broderick, Matthews, Burke, etc. THE OPENING OF THE ROWING CLUB took place on Thursday afternoon, when the Waimata River presented quite a gay appearance. A procession comprising the- City Band, oil launches, the club's boats and various small crafts, proceeded up the river and back to the band rotunda, where Mrs A. F. Kennedy christened the club's new boats, and the Mayor (Mr. W. D. Lysnar), in a short speech, declared the season open. PERSONAL. Miss Hardy (Canterbury) is the guest of her niece. Mrs A. Seymour.
