Dear Bee, July 2-L. THE OLD HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS’ ANNUAL DANCE. given in Devine's Hall on Wednesday night, was in every way a kocccss. Those present included Mrs. VV. T. Wood, Mr. and Mrs. Vernon, Mrs. Hellish, Mrs; Archer, Mrs. Dawson, Mrs. Devine, Mrs; K. Drew, the Misses F. Park, 1 Archer, Ilcvinc, Milla, Drew, Broadbent, Pole, Tingey, Perrin, Schwartz, Bevan, Coles, Bailey, Lancaster, McKenzie, Ilib dreth, Balsillie, Chapman (2>. There was a very Urge attendance at the Municipal Hal! on Thursday after* noon at the meeting held there in connection with the PLUNKET NURSE SCHEME. Lady Plunket and the flan. Kathleen Plunket were present, also the Mayor and Mayoress (Mr. and Mrs. D. Nash). A society was formed, and the following officers elected: Patroness, Lady Phui ket; President, Mrs. J. Nash; Vice Presidents, Mesdames Harper anf Hewitt; Secretary, Mrs. M. Cohen; Treasurer, Mrs. 11. Palmer; Executive Mesdames Palmer, H. Mowlem, Henry. Martin, and J. Young. The Committee are: Mesdames J. Nash, Harper, Coheiij Hewitt, Mellsdp, Stowe, R. S. Abraham* Porritt, Palmer, F. S. Mcßae, Henry, R. Davis, Martin, Jolly, Hird, Lewis, McDonald, W. T. Wood, J. Young, F. R. Jackson, L. A. Abraham, IL Mowlem, C. Loughnan, Broad, W. String, Freeman, F. Cooke anil Miss Glendining. Mrs. Dunkeley, Hereford-street, gave A SMALL PARTY on Tuesday afternoon. Mrs. D. Reed Mrs. Wallace, the Misses Barber (z), Robinson (2), Foley and D. Wilson wen the guests present. This afternoon Mrs. MeKnight entertained a few friends AT AFTERNOON TEA. The drawing-room was prettily decorated with wattle. The hostess wore a black crepe de chine skirt and b’ack glace silk blouse with bands of black insertion over .white; Mrs. Morrah, dark green cloth embroidered coat and skirt, green straw hat with green silk and pale blue quills; Mrs. J. Waldegrave, navy coat and skirt, scarlet hat with silk and black coque feathers; Mrs. Peach, black cloth costume, made with long eoat, fawn cloth embroidered vest, white hat with black satin ribbon and fawn shaded feather, sable furs; Mrs. Barnicoat, navy coat and skirt, navy hat with silk and large buckle; Mrs. Guy, brown and blue striped coat and skirt, black velvet hat with black tip and band of gold; Mrs. Aicken, brown cloth coat and skirt, fawn embroidered waistcoat, brown hat with brown silk and cerise roses, sable fur and muff; Mrs. Goldfinch, navy coat and skirt, burnt straw hat with silk rosettes; Mrs. Eliot, brown skirt, sealette coat* cream hat with silk and brown coque feathers; Mrs. Rer.ell naw mat and skirt, black hat with black feathers
band of emerald velvet; Mrs. Moeller, navy coat and skirt, blue hat with blue and green feathers; Miss Bond, navy Eton coat and skirt, hat with emerald green velvet and blue feftthers, green scarf; Miss Armstrong, blue cloth costume, blue motor hat with green wing; Mrs Tripe, Miss M. Barnicoat, and a few others. PERSONAL ITEMS. Mrs. VV. Bendall (Palmerston) is visiting relatives in Wellington. Mrs. Colbeck (Palmerston) has gone to Napier for a fortnight. * Miss Mary Smallbone (Wellington) spent a few days last week with her sister, Mrs. Barnicoat, Union Bank, Palmerston. Mrs. Alatier (Levin) was the guest of her sister, Mrs. A. Guy (Palmerston), for a day or two during the week.
