Dear Bee, July 24. THE LADIES’ GOLE CLUB have been very unfortunate in the weather for their matches this season, a great number of the days being so stormy and wet. Friday was no exception, when the approaching and putting match, for a prize presented by Mr Chettle, was played on the Belmont links. Mrs Barnicoat and Miss G. Stanford tied, and in the play oil’ Miss Stanford was victorious. Afternoon tea was provided by Mrs Izard and Miss C. Anderson. Amongst those present on the links were Mrs Montgomerie, Mrs Sarjeant, Mrs Brookfield, Mrs Lomax, Mrs Stewart, Mrs Lomas, Mrs Wall, Mrs Izard, Mrs Barnicoat, Mrs Howarth, Miss N. Cowper, Miss A. Cowper, Miss Moore, Miss Wilford, Miss C. Anderson, Airs Meldrum, Mrs Armstrong, Miss Taylor, Miss Bates, Miss Olli ver, Miss Cave, and others. THE WANGANUI OLD GIRLS’ DANCE, which was held in the Drill Hall, was one of the most successful dances given by the Association. The stage was converted into a cosy sitting-room, and the hall very prettily decorated with fern leaves ami other greenery. The supper table was screened off from the dancingroom, and was artistically arranged with masses of yellow spring flowers. The committee all wore powder and patches. Alias Frazer was gowned in a beautiful black silk frock, with real lace on her corsage; Airs H. Nixon, emerald green silk gown, with overskirt of green sequins, the same material being folded on her corsage; Miss Nixon, pretty cream silk, with silver tissue; Airs A. Izard, cream satin gown, with folded belt and berthe of real lace, short puffed sleeves and lace edging; Miss E. Anderson, palest Liberty green Shantung silk frock, with French knots, and the corsage prettily made with folds, shoulder scarf of green chiffon; Airs Imlay Saunders, blue chiffon taffetas gown, with berthe effect of narrow cream Valenciennes lace, and rosette of black velvet on her corsage; Aliss Murray, white silk, with lace and chiffon berthe; Mrs John Mason, beautiful old rose striped gauze gown, with Vshaped inserted vest of cream lace finished with tassels; Aliss Mason, white muslin frock, with tiny frills on the skirt, and berthe of narrow Valencienes lace, pale blue sash, and rosette on corsage; Miss J. Alason, pretty pale blue chiffon taffetas gown, with full skirt, and lace on the bodice; Aliss V. Craig wore an elaborate old rose silk gown, the corsage was outlined with silk of a darker shade, and yoke of filet net; the full skirt was banded with a border of contrasting silk; Aliss Gresson, pale blue chiffon taffetas gown, the corsage was prettily trimmed with narrow rows of Valenciennes lace, forming a berthe; Miss Hatriek (debutante), dainty frock of figured net over glace silk, the many frills of skirt and corsage were outlined with narrow satin ribbon; Aliss Empson, pale blue chiffon taffetas gown, with net on her corsage, ami shoulder straps of silver sequin embroidery; Aliss Afoore (Hawera), pale blue silk gown, with full skirt, made with wide French tucks and knots, the corsage was finished with lace and tucker of cream net; Mrs C. Hutton, pale green chiffon taffetas, with folded silk on the corsage, outlined with velvet of a darker shade,lhe skirt being pleated and ornamented with French knots; Aliss Chase-Morris (Wellington) wore a becoming frock of White silk made in Empire stylo, and angel sleeves of white chiffon; Miss G. Chase-Aforria (Welling-

ton), striking gown of white, the skirt and bodice were made with a panel of filet net outlined with piping old gold Hatin; Miss Brettargh, pale pink chiffon taffetas- gown, the corsage was made of folded silk, and net vest; Mrs Wall wore a most becoming pale ■ blue chiffon taffetas gown, the full skirt had a border of lattice work heading a wide frill at the foot of the skirt, and tucker of filet net embroidered; .Miss Jardine, turquoise blue silk, with bands of silver embroidery, and berthe of silver sequins; Miss Bates, pale pink silk frock, with French knots and tucks, berthe of cream lace; Miss 11. Bates, blue chiffon taffetas, the folded corsage was made with a small vest of gauged chiffon; Mrs Porritt wore a black silk gown, the corsage effectively trimmed with cream lace; Miss Heaps (Nelson), soft blue silk gown, with berthe of lace and spray of tiny pink flowers on her corsage; Miss Moore wore a becoming frock of salmon silk; Miss Darley, green silk gown, with overskirt of cream lace. THE WANGANUI MUSICAL AND DRAMATIC ASSOCIATION had a most successful performance of J. 11. Darnley’s three-act comedy, ‘"'Facing the Music,” at the Opera Hoi-.se on Wednesday, July 22nd. All the characters were well sustained, the special feature being the artistic arrangements and floral decorations of the stage. Amongst the large audience were Miss Imlay, in a handsome black silk gown with wide berthe eflect of real lace; Mrs. Saunders, black and white evening gown with lace on her corsage; Miss Humphries (New Plymouth), white satin blouse with yoke of fine cream lace, black silk skirt, beautiful pale pink opera coat with wide collar of d?ep cream lace; Miss K. Humphries (New Plymouth); black silk evening frock, with berthe of silver sequin net; Mrs. Imlay Saunders wore a pale grey crepe de chine gown with chiffon on her corsage and embroidered in silver thread, shoulder scarf of silk lace; Mrs. Lomas, cream satin frock, the corsage profusely trimmed with lace; Mrs. Reid, black and white evening gown with lace, white silk opera coat edged with feather trimming; Mrs. Greenwood wore r. becoming frock of the palest heliotrope silk edged with a band of silk in a darker shade; Miss Huxtable, pale pink silk blouse, with yoke of cream lace, black silk skirt; Mrs. Colin Campbell wore a black silk evening-gown with transparent lace yoke; Mrs. G. Saunders, black silk with lace on her corsage and touches of pale blue, the same shaded ribbons in her coiffure; Mrs. A. E. Kitchen wore a beautiful black silk frock with wide berthe of cream lace; Miss Willis, black chiffon taffetas, with lac? on her corsage, and shoulder scarf of eream and heliotrope floral chiffon; Mrs. Good, black chiffon taffetas, with cream lace and pale blue chon ; Miss Wilford, pretty pink silk frock with pleated skirt and finished with French knots, corsage swathed with silk and berthe of lace; Mrs. A. Sherriff wore a pale heliotrope silk gown with velvet of a darker shade and cream lace on her corsage; Miss Maling, maize shaded silk with net; Miss Moore (Hawera), electric blue shaded velvet frock with berthe of cream lace; Miss Morris, white silk gown with frills of the same material, and a spray of crimson roses on tier corsage; Mrs. Godwin wore a black silk with cream lace; Mrs.' Sarjeant, black crepe de chine, with transparent cream lace yoke finished with tassels; Miss Stewart, white silk, with lace on her corsage; Miss Moore, pale pink silk, pale pink and .cream striped silk opera coat; Mrs. James Watt, dainty white silk frock with lace on her corsage; Mrs. Griffiths, black silk with vest of filet net with black velvet ribbon interlaced; Mrs. F. Fit_herbert, of Rangitikei, are the guests of Mrs. Cholmeley, Wanganui.
