GISBORNE.
Dear Bee, October 13. Jam afraid this w : ll be r very short dull letter, for 1 have absolutely nothing |o write about. After all the gaiety of the winter we have settled once more into the even tenor of our way, which will continue for just another week. The show dance js to be, on the ]7th. The slow will be he’d the two following days, and the Poverty .Bay Turf Club's races on the. two next days. In the meantime everyone is keeping very quiet. The weather has been horrible, cold and pouring with rain one day and hot as summer the next, but perhaps it is just as well, as •there will be a better chance of settled weather next week. Last Saturday there was a ladies' putting competition at the golf links for a prize presented by Miss Nellie McFarlane, of Hawke's Bay. The result was very close, five ladies —Mrs Willock. Mrs O’Meara, Miss Adams, and Misses Rutledge (2) —tieing. la the playing off Miss Adams Avon the prize with the score of six. A number of people are paying a Hying trip to Napier for the Hawkes Bay Show, and returning io Gisborne on Saturday. The heavy rains we have Lad 1 he last few days will prevent the tennis court* being opened to-morrow, so it has bee* postponed until next Saturday
ELSA.
