Among those present at THE ANNUAL SPORTS AT THE BOYS' COLLEGE were : Mrs Percy Adams, in a lovely gown of thick shot corded silk made with a ruching round the hem and the bodice trimmed with ecru lace, a small bonnet of sage green to match the gown, and this completed one of the most elegant costumes on the ground: Mrs Sclanders. in a grey costume, with small grey hat having a spray of crimson roses": Mrs Preshaw. black costume, long lace mantle, small black bonnet: Mrs Leggatt. in a pretty costume of flowered green silk, small cream and gold bonnet: Mrs Duff. spotted muslin, black bonnet: Mrs Trolove. black costume: Mrs J. Wood, white cashmere with bands ot dark green ribbon velvet. Eton jacket, black hat: Mrs Wood, black gown and bonnet : Mr* Thornton, tailor-made gown of soft cloth, soft white hat with feathers; Mrs Mira ms. fawn cloth gown, black and white bonnet: Mrs Holloway, grey gown, black lace mantle and bonnet : Mrs Mules, grey tweed, black mantle and bonnet : Mrs Tomlinson. Mrs Pearson, blue checked gown, white frilled blouse. Zouave jacket, long silk sash, small sailor hat: her sister. A most enjoyable afternoon was spent by all those who witnessed the second match between the Nelson and the Brook Lawn Tenni.Clubs. It was a warm afternoon, and the court-, as usual, were looking beautifully green. Among those I noticed during the afternoon were Mrs Roger Kingdom in an elegant toilet of -hot corduroy poplin with trimmings of dark red silk. large hat with wheat : Mrs Pitt, black striped muslin, lace mantle, black bonnet with lilies of the valley : Mr- Bunny. Dodson. Mrs Wix. Mrs Pearson. Mrs Roberts. Mrs Preshaw. Mrs Thornton, tweed skirt, pretty pink flowered silk blouse, white hat with pink silk : Miss Heaps, blue spotted muslin, sailor hat: Miss Jo Pitt, cream flow ered muslin. sailor hat: Miss Browning. Miss Mackay. Mi.-s Kay. and Miss Ledger, all wearing tennis dresses; Miss Roberts, in a large black and white checked gown, black and white hat: Miss Duncan (Wellington). very stylish costume of fawn cashmere with Eton jacket, and front of white frilled muslin, large hat with ostrich feathers ; Miss Huddleston, pink flowered muslin. Swiss belt and collar and cuffs of brown velvet, black lace hat with red and white roses: Miss Forbes, grey costume, grey hat with pink roses. Two very enjoyable cone* rts were given la-t week, one at the Boys' and one at the Girls' College. Almost the same singers sang at both. Of those taking part were Mesdames Houlker. Percy Adams. Misses Mackay. Gibbs. Jackson, and L. Fell, and Messrs Fell. Kempthorne. Joynt. Grace, etc. On Friday evening THE PRIZES AND SCHOLARSHIPS were presented by Mr Evans to those who were lucky enough to havegained any among the pupils of both Girls'and Boys' Colleges. Quite a crowd assembled in the Provincial Hall to witness thi* ceremony. I noticed Mesdames Atkinson. Fell. Richmond. Ssclanders. Mules. Watts. Bunny. Percy Adams. J. Sharp. Renwick. Locking. Pitts. Heaps. Mackie. Webb. Bowen. Chatterton. Beavis. Hack worth (Riv**rton>. Sealy. Tomlinson. Blackett. Mirams, and Misses Fell. Pitt, Huddleston. Chatterton. Atkinson (two). Wood. Richmond (two). Higgins. Bell. Sealy. Cuthbertson. e»c. Excellent addresses were given both by the lady principal. Miss Gibson, and the principal. Mr Joynt. As usual at this time of the year, the colleges are locking quite deserted, and not only the colleges but numerous family re-i--dences. the occupants of which have gone to spend the holidays camping out. or into the country.
