James Conwat is charged on warrant with assaulting the Bailiff of the B. M. Court, Maori Gully, Greymouth district, on August 19, 1872, and is supposed to be ‘making for Canterbury via Lake Brunner. Description -Native of Galway, Ireland, 36 years, sft. lOin. or llin., fair complexion, fair hair, fair large bushy- whiskers . and moustache, worn all round face, medium build, round shoulders; walks with head down; when last seen was dressed in moleskin trousers, dark Crimean shirt, ~ drab wide-awake ' hat, watertight boots. George Wilson is charged on warrant with 'deserting his wife and children. Description : English, 31 ; years, sft. Bin., dark complexion, stout : build,- : small dark beard and 1 moustache, thin face, black 'hair, eyes dark and large, ordinary features, small hands and feet; : when seen in Kaiapoi in June last was dressed in moleskins trousers monkey jacket, black billy-cock hat, scarlet and black ■ scarf, and was in company with two men, Sam and Joe Ward, who stated Goldfields 1011 of going to the Reefton Goldfields.

Reverting to form of inquiry. for Missing Friends,” Charles Alfred Sellars, Canterbury Police Gazette, 1872, page 26, has been discovered in the Ashburton district.
Reverting to Criminal Offences, Christchurch; August 25, 1872, the gun therein described has been found by Detective Feast, along with property belonging to other persons, in the house of Chas. F. Matthews, now under sentence in Lyttelton Gaol.
Reverting to Criminal Offence Forms sent round for general information, re' escaped prisoners Plummer, and Christie alias Montgomery, from Otago Gaol, they have been recaptured by the Otago Police.
