Inquests.
An Inquest was held at Christchurch, on the 7th ult., by J. W. S. Coward, Esq., Coroner, on the body of an unbaptised illegitimate female child, of whom Maria Reid was the mother, and Joseph Brown the reputed father. Verdict—Natural causes.
An Inquest was held at Christchurch, on the 18th ult., by J. W. S. Coward, Esq., Coroner, on the body of Julia Henley, aged nineteen months, who met with her death, at Springston, on the 15th ult., by drowning. Verdict—Accidental death.
An Inquest was held at Lyttelton, on the 23rd ult m C ° ward ’ Es( U Coroner, on the body +1 oo J Ta yl° r > a seaman, who met his death on the 22nd ult., while working on board the barque Union through the upsetting of a basket of coal when being hoisted, the contents falling on the head ol the deceased. Verdict—Accidental death.
