Missing Friends.
Information is requested of Leopold Deilling who was a sailor on board the Oak, which was wrecked at Hokitika, on her voyage from Melbourne in May, 1865, and -who afterwards was supposed to have gone to the West Coast diggings.
Extracts from Auckland Police Gazette, Ho. 23,1867. Information is requested respecting Eobert Hill, who left his wife in Blenheim on the 2nd Eebruary last, and went to the Buller where it has been subsequently reported he is in employment. He, however, neglects to contribute towards the support of his wife, who is now in Auckland, or to communicate with her. Hill is described as being about 27 years old, 5 feet 9 inches high, of fair complexion, fair hair, and strong build, usually wears a goatee and moustache.
Extract from Auckland Police Gazette, Aug. 1, 1867. Information is requested respecting Andrew Burns, a native of Stonehouse, Lanarkshire, Scotland. He came out to this province in the Helenslie, from Glasgow which arrived in Auckland in December, 1861. Description—age 23 years, height about six feet, heavy build, dark hair and eyes ; when last heard of was working at the Gold-fieids at Hokitika.
