Extracts from the Journals of the House of Representatives Thursday, the 27th Day or June, 1946 Ordered, " That a Select Committee be appointed, consisting of ten members, to consider all matters relating to school-teachers, education, and public instruction generally, training of publicschool teachers, higher education, technical education, manual instruction, and such other matters affecting education as may be referred to it: the Committee to consist of Mr. Algie, Mr. Atmore, Mr. Bodkin, the Rev. Clyde Carr, Mr. Combs, Mr. Doidge, Mr. McCombs, Mr. Oram, Mr. Petrie, and the Mover."—(Hon. Mr. Mason.) Wednesday, the 14th Day of August, 1946 Ordered, " That the Education Committee be increased, by leave, to eleven members by the addition of the name of the Hon. Mr. Nordmeyer."—(Right Hon. Mr. Fraser.)

REPORTS

No. 32. —Petition of A. E. Bryant, Orakau, and Others Praying for the establishment of an agricultural high school in the south Auckland area. I have the honour to report that the Committee recommends that the petition should be referred to the Government for favourable consideration. 20th September, 1946.

No. 13.—-Petition of A. Cathcart and Others, of Johnsonville Praying for an investigation into accommodation, &c., in the Johnsonville Primary School. I have the honour to report that the Committee recommends that the petition should be referred to the Government for most favourable consideration. 24th September, 1946.

No. 39.—Petition of Elsie Ainger and Others, of Riccarton, Christchurch Praying for a review of school facilities in the Riccarton and Fendalton areas. I have the honour to report that the Education Committee has heard evidence on, and has carefully considered, this petition, and recommends that it be referred to the Government for most favourable consideration. 10th October, 1946.
