REPORTS.
Coal-Mines Amendment Bill. I am directed to report that the Goldfields and Mines Committee, to which was referred the Coal-mines Amendment Bill, has duly considered the same, and recommends that the Bill be allowed to proceed subject to the amendments shown on a copy of the Bill attached hereto. 15th November, 1937.
Petroleum Bill. I am directed to report that the Goldfields and Mines Committee has heard some evidence on this Bill, but, in view of the fact that Native land is affected by the Bill, the Committee is of opinion that it cannot come to a final decision until the Bill has been considered by the Native Affairs Committee. The Committee therefore recommends that the Bill be referred to the Native Affairs Committee and thereafter again referred to the Goldfields and Mines Committee. 23rd November, 1937.
Mining Amendment Bill. I have the honour to report that the Goldfields and Mines Committee has carefully considered the abovementioned Bill, and recommends that it be allowed to proceed without amendment. 30th November, 1937.
Petroleum Bill. I am directed to report that the Goldfields and Mines Committee, to which the Petroleum Bill was referred has carefully considered the same, and recommends that the Bill be allowed to proceed subject to the amendments shown on a copy of the Bill attached hereto. 2nd December, 1937.
No. 156.—Petition of Inez G. Finlayson, of Waihi. Praying that she be granted a compassionate allowance on account of the death of her husband, allegedly due to having contracted pneumoconiosis while employed in the Waihi mines. I am directed to report that in the opinion of the Committee this petition should be referred to the Government for most favourable consideration. 14th March, 1938.
No. 155.—Petition Of Eva M. Capper, of Waihi. Special Keport. I am directed to report that at its final meeting the Goklfields and Mines Committee expressed, by resolution, its appreciation of the services of the Clerk of the Committee, Mr. Anderson, and directed that I should so report to the House. J. O'Brien, Chairman. 14th March, 1938.
