Final Report. I have the honour to report that the Public Accounts Committee, consisting of ten members, has during the session held sixteen meetings, with an average attendance at each meeting of six members. The Earthquake Protection Bill was referred to the Committee for consideration, and evidence was heard thereon, and the conclusions of the Committee were reported to the House. The estimates of expenditure for the financial year ending 31st March, 1935, were considered by the Committee. Eighty officers of State were summoned before and examined by the Committee on the votes of their respective Departments. Statements on the form of keeping the public accounts were received from the Controller and Auditor-General and the Treasury, the statements were considered and a resolution agreed to by the Committee was forwarded to the Minister of Finance for his consideration. 2nd April, 1935.
