REPORTS.

Eabthquake Protection Bill. I have the honour to report that the Public Accounts Committee has carefully considered the Earthquake Protection Bill and heard evidence thereon, and recommends that, as the Bill involves an appropriation, it be not allowed to proceed. The Committee is, however, of the opinion that the subject-matter is of sufficient importance to warrant an inquiry by a Committee appointed by the Government, to which Committee the information on earthquake insurance at present being sought overseas by an officer of the State should be made available. 10th August, 1934. J. A. Nash, Chairman.

Special Repobt. I have the honour to report that at its final meeting the Public Accounts Committee passed the following resolution : " That this Committee desires to express its appreciation of the capacity and unfailing courtesy of the Chairman, Mr. J. A. Nash, in the execution of his duties and directs that this resolution be reported to the House." 2nd April, 1935. W. J. Bkoadfoot, Member of the Committee.

Special Report. I have the honour to report that the Public Accounts Committee desires to express its appreciation of the services rendered by the Clerk, Mr. L. C. Dawe, especially in regard to his ability and care in the conduct of the Committee's business, and, further, that this resolution be recorded in the minutes of the Committee and reported to the House. 2nd April, 1935.
