T am directed to report that the Public Petitions M to Z Committee has passed the following resolution : " That the Committee, being of the opinion that the petitions shown in the Schedule annexed hereto cannot be considered during the present session, do report the petitions back to the House in order that they may be referred to the Public Petitions M to Z Supplementary Committee for consideration and report." No. 129, 1932-33.—Petition of D. McKay, of Onehunga. Praying for reinstatement in the Public Service. I am directed to report that, the member in charge of the petition having expressed a desire to withdraw same, the Committee recommends that he be allowed to do so. 15th December, 1933.

No. 226.—Petition of H. Rothery and Another (representing the Te Kuiti Racing Club). Praying that the penal interest as provided by section 198 of the Stamp Duties Act, 1923, be remitted, and that the sum already paid be accepted in full settlement of all totalizator and dividend dutv due by the Te Kuiti Racing Club. I am directed to report that the Committee has no recommendation to make. 15th December, 1933.

No. 239. —Petition of Annie L. Matheson, of Auckland. Praying for compensation for alleged wrongful imprisonment, and for redress by having her name expunged from the criminal records. I am directed to report that the Committee has given the petitioner and her counsel the fullest opportunity of stating her case, has examined the petitioner, departmental officers, and records, and after the most careful and sympathetic consideration to the prayer of the petition, the Committee finds that the petitioner has not exhausted her legal remedies and therefore has no recommendation to make. 15th December, 1933.

No. 59.—Petition of Mary Pilling, of Auckland. Praying for enactment of legislation enabling certain Court proceedings to be reopened. t am directed to report that in the opinion of the Committee the petition should be referred to the Government for favourable consideration. 15th December, 1933.

No. 204.—Petition of F. W. Pullyn and 3,194 Others, of Palmerston North. Praying that legislation be enacted to provide that none of the powers conferred by the Electric-power Boards Act, 1925, and its amendments be exercised to discriminate between the portions of a district constituted under the said Act, except for the purpose of providing an unforeseen deficiency in revenue. I am directed to report that, as a matter of policy is involved, the Committee has no recommendation to make. 15th December, 1933.

No. 148. —Petition of C. R. Willcocks, of Christchureh. Praying for investigation into his dismissal as Harbourmaster at Apia, and for compensation. I am directed to report that in the opinion of the Committee the petition should be referred to the Government for consideration. 18th December, 1933.
